The Romer Review

Homework Assignments
Letter Recognition and Letter Sounds
Keep working! Your kids are doing great!
Sight words – We will be having an extra recess sight word celebration for all children who are able to read all of their “orange” sight words at the end of the quarter. Children have until October 5th to learn their Orange Sight Words. I will begin testing at that time. Your child will receive an invitation to the party in his/her folder when he/she has been tested letting you know that they passed their sight word test.
Baggie Books and Reading Log - Keep reading and practicing! Remember, to keep your child’s Baggie Book in your child’s Take Home Folder when it is not in use.
Rocket Reader – These are books that you read to your child and record on the yellow record sheet that was sent home. Don’t forget to fill out the back as well. This portion of your child’s homework is VERY IMPORTANT. Your child will be recognized at the awards ceremony at the end of the year for turning in all Rocket Reader forms. This means the world to your child. Your child can dictate to you all of the information necessary to turn in the assignment and you can write it all down for them. Due date is the last day of September. Please remember that you can turn these in early, but you cannot turn them in late!
Box Tops
There is currently a contest to see which class can collect the most BoxTops. This year, the contest is changing up a bit and the grand prize is a pizza party for the class with the highest overall count. The deadline to submit BoxTops is October 19. Submitting is easy, simply submit in a ziploc bag or envelope with your student's name and "Mrs. Romer - K" written on the bag. Just be sure to have it turned in by the deadline so it will count towards the contest.
Making Animals
Next week we begin our unit on Animals. At the end of the unit we will be creating our own animals and writing about them. We will need a few supplies for this activity. If you would be able to send in a small box, milk jug, water bottle, toilet and paper towel rolls, or anything else you can think of that might be used to make an animal, it would greatly be appreciated. We could also use feathers, large wiggly eyes, and scotch tape if you are able. J
** Remember that September 21-25 is Fall Break and school is closed all week.
Have a wonderful week!
