The Romer Review
January 6th 2015
Welcome Back! I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday and you are ready to get back to school! J
Homework Assignments – Due Monday, January 12th
Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies – The new January Homework calendar is coming home today. Follow this week’s homework activities on the homework calendar.
Sight Words & Baggie Books- I will begin sending Baggie Books home again this week. I have put a new Reading Log in your child’s folder. Keep this in the Homework section and record each book that is sent home to read. This will create a running record of your child’s Baggie Books that they have practiced. Continue practicing your sight words as well.
Rocket Reader – Rocket Reader resumes this month. Be sure to have mom and dad read you those books to fill out your Rocket Reader form for January! Remember, Rocket Reader is due on the last day of the month!
Math Facts to Practice – Here are some new math facts to add to your “math fact” collection. Try to practice these and the math facts that have been sent home previously over the holidays. Remember, we are working toward fluency with these facts. Your child should be able to see the problem and know the answer within just a few seconds, however, while some children are ready for this, other children may need additional help with basic addition and subtraction concepts. Please feel free to work with your child in a way that best suits your child’s needs and at your child’s own pace.
So far we have had these facts to practice:
0+0= 1+2= 2+1= 1+3= 3+1=
3-2= 3-1= 4-3= 4-1= 5-4= 5-1= 2-1=
Here are some new facts:
1+5= 5+1= 2+2= 6-1= 6-5= 4-2=
December Reading Challenge – Six Flags Read to Succeed
Please remember to turn in your Six Flags Read to Succeed forms for a free Six Flags Ticket. I will take reading logs until this Friday.
**We are still in desperate need of glue sticks. If you would send in a pack of glue sticks with your child it would be greatly appreciated!
Have a wonderful week!
